Ren, was pretending to love Maki when he only loved the older brother. To help the older brother raise funds for his new company, Ren decided to do some illegal shit. The people he got involved with basically use his memories and looks as a base for those humanoids. However, instead of paying him, he was killed in the process.
I don't see how the brother's company would have benefited from that.

If the company was keen on business, they could sell his type as a healing heartbreaks humanoid.
I'm not sure I understood what happened to Ren though, only that he sacrificed himself for the brother's sake
