It was way back in the first volume in ch. 0 If the MC raised a flag. Basically, when Hatano was but a wee lad, MC helped him out and he swooned so hard that he's still in love eight years later

I do wonder if he knows it is MC tho? To me, it just seemed like he knew him (which is possible considering they go to the same college). Welp, I assume someone will go and reread some chapters or we get a new binge-readee who could update us on this, I hope ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Iirc, the mind reader guy has heard MC's thoughts on the BL world before and thinks he's insane. I don't think they've actually met met. He just knows him as a weirdo lol
I JUST REMEMBERED. Mind reader dude was all on a mission to figure out who MC is because he's way too noisy, but MC's thoughts are so unhinged that he decides to just not find him because he's afraid MC.would do if found
I just finished rereading the chapters he makes an appearance in, and he doesn't make a definite decision to stop looking for him. He just considers if he should just let it be (I just posted a comment about my finding here so feel free to go take a look at the chapters he appears in yourself if you'd like)
probably they're just classmates or have seen each other around the campus, they're not friends nor strangers to the other
