The mcs past is very sad I can’t recall everything but when he was younger and was first awakened as a guide he was tasked with helping people through touch(very vague because I can’t recall exact details) However there was an incident where one of the espers needed more guidance and was trying to force it on MC, the guy would pass on in that incident and his brother came to find out abt this incident and began to gaslight MC by making him feel guilty about what happened he would go on to become MCs partner(esper guide partner forgot what it’s called) and basically held MC hostage, when MC became of legal age he would go on to S/A him.(wasn’t explicitly mentioned but I do think it occurred correct me if I’m wrong). However during this time the Brother needed to go on a mission and would be away so they send someone from his guild to watch over MC. During this time MC would began to have a close bond with the guy and the guy would later come to find out about his abuse. And unfortunately he was unable to save MC once but he came back to save him by fighting with the brother. Unfortunately the guy would end up passing in this battle inside the brothers house and the Brother would try to convince MC to save him because “he(MC) can’t become a murderer again” The MC does not end up saving him btw! And this contributes a lot to what will happen in the future with MC and ML as we will get a really longgg chasing arc with the ML going crazy and the MC running away out of fear that the ML does not love him but instead wants to own and control him again something’s are jumbled up when I find the novel link I will post it so u can read for urself because I def missed a few things but that’s the gist of mcs backstory

As for Andante's past it just actually revolves around how he's a genius at a very young age. He's got two abilities which is very rare for an esper. LEOM Guild (I don't know if that's the right name) it was the top guild in Korea with Andante leading it (He's known as Owen) together with his brother Ano who also has two abilities as a guide. (Ano is Coda's lover.) During the time the SS dungeon appeared, LEOM guild entered it together with guide Ano. So near the end of the raid, the team runs into this esper from 80 years ago—crazy strong, but he’d been devoured by a monster and was basically a puppet waiting for them. Everyone was already exhausted, Czerny and Flat were unconscious, the twins were outside helping the others, and Synthy had used up all her energy protecting Ano. It was just Coda and the captain, Andante, left to fight. Then suddenly, the monster lunges at Ano. Synthy and Coda couldn’t react in time, and Andante threw himself in the way—took the hit, got seriously wounded. That’s when it gets worse. The monster wasn’t actually after Ano—it was targeting Andante. It could possess human bodies by injecting its blood into wounds, and with that injury, it started trying to take Andante over. But Andante’s too strong, so the monster keeps going after Ano to wear him down, and in a split-second opening, it takes Ano's body. And here's the heartbreaking part—Coda couldn’t attack it. He knew Ano was still alive inside, and he just couldn’t risk hurting him. (It's his lover after all ) That hesitation cost them the fight. But Ano didn’t give up. Even while possessed, he stayed conscious. He figured out the monster’s weakness and told the others: if his body became unusable, the monster would jump hosts—and that would be their chance. So Andante made the call. No hesitation. He did a reverse guiding on Ano—basically, he stripped Ano of his power completely. It's super risky and usually fatal... and yeah, Ano died instantly. Chest pierced, just like that. They got their shot at the monster, but Andante was too crushed to do anything. In the end, the survivors had to run. They barely made it out.
