He’s lost his memory, he’s mentally in a place before he even thought about having kids himself. He’s allowed to feel awkward to suddenly have a child that everyone is saying is his, though he is being a dick to a child so no excuse but personally idk how I’d feel suddenly in that position also it seems he wasn’t that great of a dad beforehand either
They have literally said he was a dick and uncaring towards his son long before the memory loss
