Dividing is a mean of reproduction by the alien, compare to human leaving offspring . Reread the explain chapter. For example, Miriam is a divided of The Judge 4th finger and Shalam is the 1st finger. But u can clearly see that the judge is not dead nor he lose his memory or personality.
