What if someone is a surgeon and they have people die on the operating table despite doing their best to save them. The surgeon could have a kill count, but killing them would be a net negative since they probably also saved a bunch of lives too. Does this guy actually investigate his targets at all or does he just always go off the numbers?

    Or a soldier or a policeman that have to kill in the line of duty, or could be someone like Dexter, you have a point; he should investigate his targets rather than base it on numbers alone.

    Later on they do explain he has a deeper investigation. I think most numbers are consequential from an ill intention like seeking out for revenge or from being bullied. The policemen are not yet mentioned and pretty sure will be, but they are useless irl either way so there in line duty can also be grey zone and not completely innocent. MC is not good, he is pretty much like thanos. Dying from surgery is not an intended murder
