espers- they got pew pew powers but pew pew powers got a limit and if they go past the limit then their body goes into shock (the omega verse equivalent of ruts)

thats where Guides comes in. Guides can recharge esper's pew pew powers, the more physical contact the better the charging, thus sexual intercourse.

also there's a percentage in how compatible a guide is with an esper that way the charging is more effective.

also letter grades. The higher the grade, the more pew pew powers or charging powers with F being the worst and S being the best.

It might help to know where the term comes from. ESP stands for ExtraSensory Perception and an ESPer would be someone that can use esp. I think it was originally used to refer to special mind powers (telekinesis, etc) but now it's kind of a blanket term for any kind of pew pew powers.
