What I’m understanding is this: You shouldn’t read stories depicted in this time period if what you’re looking for are situations rooted in the morality of the modern day, or anything that defies the logic of that time period.
Does the ml get some redemption through self reflection and changes how he acts with the mc? yes. but he still did the shitty things, and was still a shitty guy. people are allowed to be uncomfortable with uncomfortable things. obviously not your cup of tea and thats just fine ╮(￣▽￣)╭
