Tell you know nothing about how addiction stemming from stress and depression works, without telling me you don't. He's basically mourning his soon to die ONLY family member. He can't magically feel better and stop drinking, especially when he's around an abusive piece of trash. He lived his life constantly in chase and was basically raped and abused. He's a heavily traumatised person going through hell with ZERO support.

I would like your comment if i could. As someone who's delt with multiple addicts (family and friends with drugs [hero, pills, meth], alcohol, sex, etc) being nice doesn't help them. There's a really thin line, but they seriously need tough love bc they'll throw all kinds of reasons and excuses to stay that way. Valid reasons? Yes, but validation only keeps them doing the same thing. I remember my grandma tying my aunt with belts and throwing her in a closet while she went thru withdrawals just so that she wouldn't hurt herself. One time we all had to sit on her until the cops showed up. I was 8 at the time. (She's clean now after 50ish years w/only alcoholism) Some serious shit man...
Nah dragging him off the car and throwing a bucket of water at him was valid. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
