What? Emotions dictate your actions, and Jaekyung has shown nothing but acting on anger, or showing disdain and arrogance. And the emotions they do give him are written so terribly. Like, look! He's nice when he's drunk, so he must be nice deep down inside! He's taking care of Dan even when he doesn't have to, that must mean he cares! He can't let Dan go for some reason, that clearly means he's in love with him, he just can't realize it yet!
It's not that we don't recognize what the author is TRYING to do, but the execution is just that bad. It doesn't convince me enough that he isn't just angry all the time. This chapter wasn't moving because all it showed was that Jaekyung doesn't want Dan to die. Wow! Shocker. Lol That would've made sense if the conflict was related, but it's not a revelation that Jaekyung doesn't want Dan to die. We've already determined that from the beginning.
Obviously, it's supposed to make Jaekyung realize that he hasn't left Dan's side because he actually cares about him, but because Jaekyung hasn't ever been shown enjoying Dan's company besides sex, it falls flat. They just don't feel compatible.
Not to say there's no potential. I'm HOPING this is just a bad section of the story. I'm still reading because I'm hoping Jaekyung actually experiences his redemption arc. Emotion was beautiful on his face.
Oh wow the first bit of emotion that isn't anger. About 20 chapters too late.
