They're are definitely related. So basically from my understanding, he was forced to be the "guardian"/"watcher" for the family. But because they forced him to remain as a wolf throughout his childhood, in his family's eyes, he became more beast than human and therefore became someone hard to control, but in reality I think he just became extremely bitter towards them for forcing him to basically become the clan's own personal murderer ("Oh yay, no blood on my hands" - ML's family) which to them makes him look like a beast. So as a result they became terrified of him because it's clear he doesn't like them anymore due to their actions but also becsuse of the fact that it seems like he "easily" kills people who go against the clan, including traitors within the clan. Of course its like they've forgotten thats literally how they trained him. Because of that, his sister has become increasingly afraid of him... either that or she hates how people's fear towards ML is stronger than their loyalty towards her as the clan chief, so she wants him to step down...

I genuinely don't understand the plot as of now either tbh they hate him and want him to step down but his position and title are ruled from birth, like their logic doesn't even make sense, "step down from the role we forced upon you so we most likely choose another one with the same tradition we choose you"
