but i just have to say, i really feel bad for Lee Sangmin. dude has the most pitiful role ever. no family ever loved him, he was constantly pressured and abused by his psychotic father, and he had to deal with the harshest things in life all alone. sure, there were a few people who genuinely cared for him, but i can’t blame the fact that during his high school days, the urgency for him to get professional help was so out of reach, ironic, considering it was their family business. by the time he realized it and wanted to change, it was already too late. Yeah, some of his friends and even Yeonhee was there, but he never really got the chance. It was beyond repair.

i also feel bad for Yeonhee honestly. She always ended up stuck with miserable guys. In her first life, she was with Jinyun when he had nothing, and now she’s with Sangmin in this state. Girl, pick better men pls lmao. But in the end, I can't say much, because Sangmin is still a killer and a sinner by nature. Still, evils aren’t born that way, they’re made by circumstances. I really believe Sangmin could’ve been one of the best doctors out there if only he wasn’t born into that family. He could’ve just shined on his own.

Just finished it, and honestly, my opinion still hasn’t changed. i still feel bad for Sangmin. yeah, some might disagree, but I really don’t think he deserved to carry the weight of his father’s twisted schemes. Sure, he’s a sinful soul, like that guardian said, but didn’t he repent enough already??lmao? The real one who deserves to be completely torn down is the father. He was such a scumbag, an absolute jerk and probably the worst in the story. Not only did he treat Sangmin like trash, but he also abused his other kids, had an affair, treated women like objects, and was insanely greedy… and all he got was a coma??? Really?hahaha?

but then again, Sangmin ended up as the main antagonist, and honestly, I can’t help but still feel bad for him. yes, he did get his redemption and a moment of peace, but it’s just sad because I never expected him to fall this hard. He was once a friend — someone who could’ve stayed on the right path if life had been just a little kinder to him. He turned out that way because of his father’s toxic expectations and the crushing pressure that surrounded him his whole life. If only someone had told him it was okay not to be first all the time. If just one person had reassured him that his worth wasn’t tied to beating others, maybe he wouldn’t have drowned in all that comparison and self-hate. deep down, I feel like he never really stood a chance. it’s not that he wanted to become this monster, it’s that he was slowly molded into one, piece by piece, by circumstances he couldn’t escape.

Also, there’s something I’m still curious about. maybe someone can clarify this for me? if there is a novel version, did Sangmin kill his sister’s mother, the one with the necklace?? before he completely lost it? like in his hs days?? since she appears in his schizophrenic hallucinations, was she already one of his victims even back then? maybe he really was already too far gone from the start. but based on what I’ve seen in the manhwa, this is just what I’ve pieced together, though it’s still a bit confusing. lmao
