I disagree. Curiosity gets you killed yes, but they're pawns being used for a chess match. If given the chance to dismantle the system and bring those who use people as pawns down to the chess board, wouldn't most? Only cowards continue to follow. They don't call em military dogs for no reason. They only know to take orders and without a master, they're useless. That's what Major Kwak is right now. A dog who follows orders.

You must not know history. There's plenty of examples of someone rising up to dismantle the system. Fall of Rome, fall of the Japanese imperial regime, French revolution, US war against Britain for independence. There's so many real world examples and you're telling me this fantasy world plot isn't heading in the direction of rebellion?

This is easily said bc you know he is the mc and won’t be killed in the end, there were probably thousands before him that tried and died suffering horrificly. The idea you portray I think is a little too idealistic. If we look at the world rn there are also thousands things going on where no one is able to do anything for innocent people being killed.
Major kwak is simply trying to protect him of what is inevitable if he keeps obviously going over the law, and you would probably do the same if it were your loved one. We don’t know yet what Major Kwak knows or has seen, he also isn’t the type to not go lurking around so he has probably done that already and has (I guess) a good idea of what’s going on. The doc is also way too carless when it comes to trying to sneak around the system, his curiosity is too loud, which I would too shush down if I was major Kwak.

I have a degree in international relations, which contains a strong history component. Please come up with an example where 1 person did as you suggest the doctor or major does, not a well-funded rebellion. There’s a ton of hidden support to the examples you offered that people seldom know. It’s apples and oranges. Who is rising up now while democracy falls apart in front of our eyes?
Also, you don’t need a history degree to understand psychology. Ever work in an office at a big company? What happens when you ‘go to HR?’ What happens to whistleblowers? lol unreal, the naïveté…

From the way you brought up your fake degree, I can tell you're a kid barely out of college, maybe even high school age. There is no point in continuing this conversation. But, I work AT a state hospital, kid. I KNOW what happens to "whistle-blowers" and conversations with HR. There's a zero tolerance to retaliation. People have won LAWSUITS against retaliations in my company. Once you actually start working, you'll actually see how dumb you sound. Also have you lost the plot? MC is not the ONLY one trying to take down the system, that's why he's trying to contact the Serpent and their organization. I said it takes a brave soul to fight against the system. I never said 1 person can do it all. Though they can be a huge catalyst. Anyways I'm bored now so reply as you like and come back and read this in a couple of years once your pre-frontal lobe is more developed.

What a douchebag lol. I was born in 1978 and work for a major global company with an HR hotline and non-retaliation policy as well. That’s for the little leagues, dumbass. Once you are talking about CEOs and politicians, it’s a different ball game. Get into the C-suite and you’ll find how things really work, you naive summer child. You original point hardly matters now that you’ve shown how little evidence it takes for you to come up with full-blown nonsense. I’d doxx myself if I was as dumb as you, just to prove you wrong. Lmfaoo @ fake degree (which exists in major universities everywhere lmfaoooo)
The major obviously is trying to protect him, he has been doing this work for a long time and also has seen how it is and how people are treated when they aren’t privileged. Ppl are saying that his comment was too harsh, but was it? It truly is what happens to people that don’t have a status. If he keeps going he’s gonna be used in everyway possible and then killed. Him saying that is the least bad thing that can happen to him.
I do get the curiosity but curiosity also killed the cat so let’s be honest in this type of world building being too curious and suspicious is gonna get u killed.
