They can still be soulmates, and ennid not be the dragon chosen one. It's like you having a partner but your parents choosing someone else. If you get with that partner they die duo to your parents curse.
The dragon blood killed everyone that wasn't the chosen partner of Glen lineage( his ancestors lovers), and he knows that, so he needs to find a way to change that.
