I feel like author not disclosing their backstory to keep the mystery (and this yandere circlejerk) alive is kind of poor writing.
You can't relate to the characters' mindsets because you never know what they know and don't know about the story of their mothers at any given time. It was kind of cute at season 1 as a mystery subplot but this far in, it just seems like a cop out.
You are supposed to grab your pitchforks against a character only to be revealed "oh actually their REAL motivation was X" constantly. Well, it makes both of them unlikeable while watching the brother/other detective trying to find out the little we do know in however many chapters is sort of distracting.
Like I am over these two being in ANY sort of relationship, just trying to find out how the murders will be resolved and instead we get more yandere cat and mouse.
