You’re reading too much into it, you should wait for the translation. He’s not sick, he just lacks basic understanding. He forces himself to adhere to what he thinks is morally correct. In this case he doesn’t like MC, but forces himself to kiss him, because he thinks rejecting him would make him a bad person.

Maybe! There is not enough context to make anything right or wrong yet. I'm just throwing ideas into the pit because I'm so locked in lol.
I quite like that take too. Seeing people having so many diverse opinion on the characterizations highlights how interesting and dimensional this story has been so far.
From my reading so far, I don't think the relationship will have "evil" or "planned" intentions behind it. Both main characters struggle with being othered in some way.
Ml looks the most suspicious with his unreadability but I think that comes from his own lack of personal experiences than him being double faced. His condition is holding him back from making meaningful connections with others that can understand or know what he is, ex the towns adults being afraid/wary while the kids are closer to him. I think he is genuine and the major problem this couple will face is going to definitely come from an outside source.
MC on the other hand is more "suspicious". I don't think he has bad intentions. Not at all. Both ML and MC seem like outcasts that are a little naive to this world. Compared to the ML, I'm more interested in the MC's story because that will definitely come to haunt him and I think this paradise town may fall apart or be in danger because of him? We will see. I am so locked in
