Their adult version's sexual tension is just fanservice for the BL fans but it'll never come through according to the author. The artist is the one who makes BL content (they make other BL stories aside from this one) , thus the romantic/sexual implications between papa and puppy but the author doesn't intend for it to turn completely romantic.

I struggled with this too I didn't know what to call their relationship

The way I made peace was to think of it as an alternate universe where the adult versions didn't have anything to do with the main story. So, for me, little potato is his son and future heir. The adult version of them are just my guilty pleasure for being a BL reader lmao

And as the above comment said, it wouldn't come through anyway, so it's just a what if thought for me lol

    Hope this helps

from what I heard, he got taken by his mom as a kid, so he didn't grow up all his childhood with papa wolf, and he looked for him and found him years later as an adult.

So this basically happens to western audiences. Chinese people find it very ordinary since they're not blood related. It's very common in their stories. Another example is caleb from Lads an Otome game character who was introduced as childhood friend of the MC, she calls him "gege" which means big brother in English so western audiences taste are wired different

I get what you mean but in LADS its more just the term “gege” that causes confusion but here its a whole different context bc its not merely a word that implies familial relationship but the fact that papa wolf is practically raising the kid as his own. Caleb, if we remove the “gege” term of honorific, is literally just a childhood friend.

The translator gave a note that the title "papa wolf and puppy" is made by them. In Chinese they don't imply anything to papa. Yes there is a familal bond and the wolf guy actually maintains that image however it's the child who is grown up is breaking into the relationship as romantic. It's the child who wants it to be more than platonic. The wolf guy is sane enough to push the puppy away since he practically raised him like his own.
