every single step ML either actively chooses the worst option only to get surprised when it blows up in his face, over and over again like a cartoon character falling off the cliff every 5 minutes.
You know he likes money and sex, so why not lure him in with money (since he admitted he wouldn't mind becoming empress for the riches and luxuries) and be really good in bed so MC wants more?
