I beg to disagree. I read the novel, ml doing this to protect the doctor because he knows the fact mc never give up and it will lead to his demise when the higher ups caught him. He is also regret what will happen to the doctor for locking him up. . Well, it is true that everyone has different interpretation but to my pov ml genuinely cared about him.
Not really, even as a reader I didn’t take the mc to be the VERY curious type, his sudden interest IS weird and no let him since he can’t rly tell him no
He already warned him multiple times but mc is being so dense and why would he suffer consequences? He locked him up to protect him , so it’s not rly a reason for redemption, and even "telling him everything" HELLO? His position doesn’t let him? They have cameras everywhere and mama is watching always , he did give hints that’s enough

I thought it was obvious that ML thinks he is doing the right thing. I'm not saying he doesn’t love MC, I'm saying his actions still lead to MC almost dying. I think I explicitly just stated my frustration at the lack of any repercussions for ML, except for worrying. I think he could have handled things better
Let me spell it out for you. MC was interested since the beginning, nothing here was abrupt. ML also simultaneously fed MC clues and now is basically torturing him and locking him away for his “safety”, in reality he just ended up almost causing him to die. If you read the novel, you know what happens.

Well I think I understand what you mean. But, I think we also has a time when we made a mistake, regret our action and we chose to only show our redemption by supporting the person. In the novel, it is clearly ml regrets what he had done to ml, and even though for us reader there is lacking on his part he still support, protect and take care our dear mc after of all that.
But still, in your pov, I understand what you mean. And I really glad to heard or read different pov of my co-reader.

After that the relationship between MC and ML isn’t even strained, MC isn’t even mad, ML suffers no consequences. Literally nothing. This whole situation is caused by ML's lack of communication.
