Even if the victim hated it and hates it, people–and sometimes the abuser–think it doesn't make sense, they think, "Why are you back when that was so unpleasant for you?" They are tainted now, they can't forget, they were made feel special and created a strong bond in order to make the victim believe they love him. And they were just kids.
