It's really interesting to me how the author managed to portray someone who's trying their best to become a better person, but ends up circling back to toxic dynamics
The mom is a fascinated character to me
As readers, most of us don't like her that much
She's protective, but in an excessive way, to the point of overbearing and controlling at times
There's no doubt she loves Lyrica, but somehow that doesn't seem to be enough to make her a good mother
She's quite literally derailing the political scenario to protect Lyrica and yet we still end up with the feeling she's not getting "better" fast enough
It's so curious to me that she's got both heroic and villainous traits and constantly dances between the two roles
This chapter is a perfect example, thinking so hard on all the wrong waya to make Lyrica "safe"
I thought she was on the way to redemption, but probably the path won't be as straightforward as I believed lol
I think things we'll keep escalating and eventually Lyrica will butt heads with her mother directly, bc each has their own idea of what "being safe" means
But that's just a theory

I half like this comment. Yes we see we see someone trying THEIR best to be a better person. Emphasis on theirs it's a road and roads aren't always straight. There will be a lot of bumps
