I guess it makes sense given his family and position of power, I mean he does refer to Flynn and other normal people as "commoners," but goddamn man. I really want to see Flynn gain some confidence and genuine investment with Hugo, but I wonder how they'll make that happen when the power imbalance is so severe. Inviting Hugo to the festival was a big step for someone who's just been pulled along by this relationship so far, which makes his response that much worse.
It'll have to be Hugo changing more than Flynn, IMO. As long as he respects Flynn's physical boundaries I can go along for the ride - I think the reason I don't hate him like I'd usually hate a ML like this is because there hasn't been much of a physical relationship between them, so while Hugo is definitely using his position of power to get what he wants, it doesn't cross into the usual SA territory. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Hugo is really shooting himself in the foot here. Whether Flynn meant it to be a “date” or not, he still invited Hugo to spend time with him, which is significant since that’s how people actually fall for each other. But because he’s a whiny pissbaby who’s not getting exactly what he wants exactly when he wants it, he’s a surly, condescending jerk to Flynn instead. GET IT TOGETHER MAN.
