I'm Hispanic and never heard that.

Though mano is hand, and a handservant is a phrase in English, so maybe someone just made that shit up. :D

Manito without the tt is spanish slang for someone you trust like family, but the word is regional. Some of my Spanish friends have heard I and some have not. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I actually searched it on the DRAE because I know sometimes people confuse Italian and Spanish. The only thing I found was "Manito-a: m. y f. Méx. U. como tratamiento de confianza que se aplica a los amigos." They may have misspelled it or just invented it :)

I'm Turkish and we use "manita" for lovers especially female ones in slang. But again it's not a Turkish word either. May be French? ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Manito in Spanish is short for "hermanito"--brother--and is exactly like Anonymous said, someone you trust like family, or for a little brother.

Im a Filipino and we use the word "manito" (boy) and "manita" (girl) in such occasion like Christmas where we secretly(or not) give gift/s to the person we chose through fishbowl sampling XD
