Considering the gods in this story are very much real and personally involved in the world, I fail to see how being agnostic has anything to do with it. This people literally get direct reward for their faith. They are not praying into the nothingness. If you live in the middle of the desert and you go to pray and get water from the goddess (like Leti literally did), its completely normal to keep praying and worshipping. Same with the empire, the saintess and the temple literally heal people, bring people back from the dead, and feed the barrier that keeps ACTUAL MONSTERS away from the population. How does it make sense for them not to try do whatever it takes and justify anything to keep that going on? Its not a vain hope in the divine, its actual correlation in every day life. When Leticia was declared the true saint the nobles were even thinking to kidnap her to keep her in the empire since they were so scared if she left the barrier would disappear. I'm sorry but it's perfectly fine not to like the story or the plot but the agnostic argument has no meaning here since we (and they) literally do know everything about their so called god and know their prayers are in fact answered.
There was literally no "agnostic argument" as you put it. It was just off-putting for ME to read AS AN AGNOSTIC. Can you even read? Also, If we are to get technical about it. Laticia used her powers to take away the water only to bring it back in order to deceive the people in order to prove the the use for a holy artefact that did nothing but sit pretty it was literally broken until she touched it and did jesus magic. Creating a problem only to solve it, much like what you are doing under my post but I digress . This isn't exactly answering prayers if you ask me. I know she did it to get the 2nd wing problem solved but still not exactly answering prayers. And the Gods literally cannot interfere unless it's saint business so regular folks were and are fucked. They literally had to turn back time in order to get the situation under control only then did they get hands-on even then they couldn't quite directly do anything without offsetting the balance. The monster problem? Fake saint was bringing in monsters in order to take them away for her to be hero who saved the day. Since she didn't have holy powers in a very long time and was using black magic/darkness or whatever to control monsters. It's a fantasy series. I'm not here to ask whether God is real or not lmao. No one is. This is fiction. No but like seriously, can you read? Don't go around twisting someone's words and then strawman arguing about something that doesn't even exist.

As to why I find it off-putting, binge reading this in one night and reading every other line of not every line about Laticia and how amazing pretty etc she is while most of the times towards the end of the main story she wouldn't even get screen time meanwhile every wing wouldn't shut up about her efforts icky to say the least. As I posted originally, this could have been a good read if the dialoguees weren't so ass
All the dick-riding the saint train pissed the fuck outta me. I remember reading this awhile back and liking the main couple which is still true they are cute but oh my god the way everyone is dickriding the saint train is so ass and i feel like the dialogues could have been better this felt badly developed bcs the plot isnt as bad compared to other in the same scene. All the crying, dumb sacrifices which are avoidable, all the talk about Laticia shoulder the weight when all she did was survive DV like it is traumatic and everything but i think the families of those who were part of the fake Saints genocide are shouldering more weight. She got her second chance to survive and fight and honestly I like Laticia and Ditrian I JUST CANT STAND ALL WORSHIPPERS URGH
