Haven't fully read the novel, but based on the spoilers and such, if you're into plot based story and veryy goal oriented mc, you might love it. There are some philosophical messages too about perseverance and such and also some triggering scenes. Upto where I've read, which isn't much cause i was reading some other novel too, it was pretty good, the mc is cold and it's kinda understandable due to his past, but him being focused on his goal and not letting his limited physical capacity hold him back is pretty cool.
Friend said its good but not THAT much probably bc it's not his cup of tea (cs its a story of a crazy villain), he recommended lord of the mysteries instead

Also, there are no family like themes throughout the story, so it's just the journey of the mc, could also be why some people dislike it, there are some cool characters introduced later who rival the mc. So def would say give it a go
