I always knew Cain wasn't end game because of the flower that represents his love with Jooin which is the sakura/cherry blossom. One thing I'll give the creator of this series is the insane symbolism throughout the series. As an anime fan I always knew sakura basically represents fleeting love, love that ends quickly and also represent life and death. Also I noticed pink haired characters are never end game like snafu and blue box. The flowers themselves have a short life span too and only blossom once a year during spring. The flower in a tragic way represents Jooin and Cain's romance quite well. Their love was vibrant and beautiful but at the same time started to rot and die just as quickly. Their love even within the series started in season 2 and by mid season 3 it had basically come to an end. In hind sight that is short compared to Yahwi and Jooin from chapter one to the very end. Another thing to note is the sakura cannot endure heavy rains. This also represents the part of cainjoo that could not endure the fallout of the love triangle. The fallout just showed how fragile their love always was.

On the other hand Yahwi and Jooins love is represented by the gladiolus flower. It's not a popular flower and is not a spectacle like the sakura and to some people it's plain. This flower is the complete opposite of the sakura. It is a simple flower that represents endurance in life and in love. It can grow almost anywhere in the world unlike the sakura which only thrives in east Asia. It blossoms multiple times of the year as evidenced in the series. Jooin receives these flowers twice in the series, on his birthday(10/10 which is autumn) where he rejects them representing him rejecting Yahwis love and also during his graduation from the t.a which is around February or march in the spring. This time he accepts them meaning by this time he had already acknowledged his love for Yahwi and if it came back he'd accept it. The flower also represents how Jooin and Yahwis love could endure all the trials and tribulations that happened within the series and can thrive anywhere they are in the world evidenced by how Jooin moves to America and is still in love with Yahwi.

I saw a quote that reminded me of this series and it is 'Someone who falls in love with your flowers and not your roots will not know how to handle you in autumn.' I think it best fits Jooin's fickle love for Cain because he only loved the beautiful parts of Cain and never even tried to embrace the parts of him that didn't fit his narrative. When he finds out about the not so shiny part about Cain he quite literally tells him to go back home.
