But that doesn't really erase how they really are inside.. they're blending in. For the case of this MC tho, it's not like he had amnesia.. he should be more level headed for decision making and staying hidden but NO he keeps fucking around that makes others suspicious of activities around him and getting dragged around by others too..

It’s because of how the world changed while he was gone, what had made sense to him back then doesn’t hold the same standards now and he’s still playing catch up, the best example is our MC is basically like Captain America except it’s a shorter span of time, but it’s still enough time for some things to be changed, he’s not dumb it’s just that the system changed too fast and too much and he didn’t bother to try to get into the loop until now

Yup, Agreed. J has been essentially fighting a war in the rift (basically a different dimension) and has been cut off from the real world for 8 yrs. This is not a short amount of time in any measure but especially in a world like his which is trying to drastically adapt to the new reality of Dungeons. Really like your captain america analogy too.
Another thing I would like to add is the fact that dude definitely has unaddressed trauma from those 8 yrs of hell, just because the story hasn't shown it directly yet doesn't mean it's not there. It's shown indirectly through the way he keeps his room - clean but extremely minimal and not comfortable at all, the way he donated everything he ever owned to the west rift charity, and the way he desperately wants to not return to his hunter life despite being the strongest one. It's hard to expect complete rationality when they have so much to deal with and we can see he is still trying his best.

What's not making sense is his decision making, even though he's catching up to What's the current trends, he should be able to search up simple things. It's not like he's new to technology he even know how to get his own new identity without any help but a simple selling of an item without any prior search? What kind of dumbahh are you to not searcg the ranging price of something?? Like another example of stupid decision is knocking up those who followed him to their house but not even thinking about the consequences of the org behind them finding it suspicious... he should know that much since he knows he doesn't have any abilities that can manipulate minds or memories. Practically risking the gradma and the kid, what dumbass doesn't know about covering the basics??
Mind you he's been only out for 8 years, he can catch up since he grew up in techy era too.. comparison to capt. America doesn't make sense since he Practically belongs to stone age era of beta technologies. He should know to cover up the basics.... his character is full of contradictions and poor execution of What's supposed to be someone with outstanding S rank or possible L rank abilities

The execution of implications is so poor. Of course he will have that trauma. Dying comrades are common thing in their line of job and those closest comrades died in front of him but does that trauma affect his basic knowledge? Brain plasticity is a thing and he's been out of thay dungeon for months possibly a year or two... adaptation within those amount of time should be a peace of cake considering they're trained to adapt to any environment they're thrown into.
For a supposed to be former rank 1, he's bland.. he's aware of his surroundings yet he does the opposite of staying lay low. Stupid.

Tbh, i feel like this take misses the point of the story. The MC isn’t supposed to be some "flawless genius" he’s traumatised, paranoid, and literally trying to survive in a world that doesn’t allow peace. His decisions seem dumb if you expect typical power-fantasy logic, but in context? He’s acting like someone with real anxiety and trust issues.
He’s been out of the dungeon for months, yes- but he wasn’t free. He was hiding, recovering, avoiding the attention of guilds and organizations that see people like him as tools or threats. The “lowkey but keeps messing up” thing just shows he’s human. You don’t break years of conditioning and fear overnight.
As for getting a new identity, he had some connections and the plot literally explains how it was done. It’s not just “cliché bs” for the sake of it. The story is more about trauma, healing, and trying to live a quiet life in a world that won’t let you. If you're expecting constant action or OP stunts, yeah, you'll be frustrated, but that's not what this series is about.

For someone who's thrown of their previous life for like 6 mos, he actually did a better job trying to stay low. He lived a hunter life for 11 yrs + lived a different year so it is understandable his decision making is affected by occupational hazzard and the time he lived in. Also, he sure does have S rank abilities but that doesnt mean he's a brainiac. Unlike Jungbin and the Doc, he does seem to be just an ordinary person before becoming an S Rank his skills and intelligence were probably at best for hunting. We see him still struggled reviewing for his exams and also struggled a bit memorising the guest lists.
You might say it was just 11-8 years of gap but with how fast times are changing I sure think 6 months isnt enough to catch up. Specially if you spent it being just a part time at the soup shop. Sure he can rely on hunters' hearsays or internet in his phone, but the information that he can have is just limited. I dont think most info regarding hunters are public specially on dungeon loots selling prices.

From what i understand he doesn't forges a new identity, he's just using his real one, nobody ever knew J's real identity and he doess have an 8 year gap in his records and here we can see that sayoung is taking care of it.
And he did search prices for the stone but that info is not actually something the normal people discuss and without a hunter's license he couldn't acces the hunter's exclusive forums. Besides, the problem was the quality of the one he had and that was something he couldn't have known either.
Now for the not knowing current hunter affairs... he's in some kind of denial... From the trauma of being in the rift for so long..
For a previous title holder of number 1, he sure is ....... DUMB like dumb DUMB.. his decision making doesn't make any sense. Welp, since I haven't been able to read the novel yet, but the whole premise is so freakin annoying. What do you mean you wanna stay lowkey but keep fucking up? You've been out from the dungeon for like months and haven't searched up much but have the resources to make a new identity without anyone's connection?? Kinda bs type cliché but aight.. guess as long as people eat it up...
