1000% AGREE. i would never even consider this a romance manga to begin with, more like a mystery manga with romance sprinkled in every once in a while. people begging for jinshi and maomao action, have they even opened their eyes, maomao isn't even written to be physically affectionate at all in the first place lol
I kinda understand why people didn't like Jinshi. His personality, if I met someone like that, I also avoid. The thing is, Jinshi isn't the best boy yet but I like this manga because it allow character to have flaw. So they can have character development. This manga make the character has depth, insecurity, flaw and strength. The character act believeable with their personality and circumstances.
He not typical sun shine golden retriever male lead. He is competent spoiled brat that has incubus appearance and spoiler alert, he need to learn how to treat someone he likes preciously and not as object of obsession. Also, how he needs to learn and accept his role as crown prince to protect the one he cares.
He is a complex character, but I just can’t bring myself to truly like his character, especially reading the light novel. He choked her out and kissed her. That scene was extremely icky and did not even feel romantic at all.
I’m not the biggest fan of the romance, not gonna lie I really not a huge fan of Jinshi character either but I keep seeing hate videos of the romance or calling it a romance anime when it’s not plus the romance is so minimal It’s a slow burn and it’s not the main focus of story at all you are missing out on peak just because you think it’s a romance anime.
