honestly a little disappointed in the trajectory this story took. i love dtr and religiously waited for weekly uploads, the characters are interesting and had depth, i just feel like the author tore down so much of the progress in their relationship to add superficial drama to the side stories. the author has added actual good, evoking drama and dives into karlyle’s insecurities in the main story, and i’d really hoped that the side stories would show more of ash’s past and how he fits with lyle. i thought it was unfortunate that the author decided to use miscommunication and jealousy as the spearhead for ash and lyle, when there was so much else to work with. it just makes me a little sad that lyle specifically had so much of his development stripped from him for a cheap fight and makeup sex. and speaking of, this whole situation just feels very different from the main story sex. i know other side stories have dabbled in similar new experiences for the characters, and i was SUPER excited for some more spicy scenes esp bc lyle and ash have such amazing chemistry, but these new chapters have just fallen flat. lyle has learned to speak for himself, ash also knows he can push lyle too far. so why do i feel like all that development got thrown out the window for these bdsm scenes? bdsm needs heavy consent, and even during their very tame scenes, ash was very clean with lyle. i know ash has a bit of a darker style to sex, which could’ve been a really interesting dynamic to explore, but this was not the way i was expecting it to be executed. all in all i will finish this series, but i will definitely treasure the main story couple dynamic over the side stories :( which sucks.
