I think it's quite fitting, actually. Imagine how small he must feel. Iora and Wellmy didn't think or comment on him after he was condemned. He stopped existing and holding power for them. Both the Crown Prince and the ML, too, stopped caring about him. He never got to fully process what happened or the fact that a woman, someone he views as beneath him, not to mention his own daughter took him down. That the woman he took as his wife played a part in it. That the servants he hired and paid, including the butler he thought he could trust, also played a part in it. He had to struggle mentally, never fully coming to terms with what happened and how things got here. And in the end, he died not only in agony but with the mental anguish of not believing it was his own fault. His last moments would be a false injustice. And what greater revenge, what greater justice, than to make him feel in part what his many victims felt? Silenced. Injustice. Betrayal. Helplessness. Never allowed to fight back or defend himself, even if only with words. True poetry right there, ot was chef's kiss.
...and here i am wondering why it was a quick death on that old ugly fuck, really hoped ml tormented him much longer ;///
