they get real close to kissing every time but something always get in the way (mostly themselves). the closest theyve ever had to anything was handholding maybe (?). they feel very intimate despite not actually doing anything overly romantic so far (esp ch 23& 24 ts made me squeal). so basically its a full blown mystery. yeahhh theres tonsss of angst tho, mostly btwn the main couple so stay warned. they havent rly made romantic progression in their relationship at all (in fact they lwk went backwards), but idrc cuz im invested for the plot. ive seen one person accuse it of being queer bait but its not, since its advertised as a bl and the author confirmed that its a romance (the mystery is just a bigger part of the story). its just rly slow burn and the story hasnt ended so they arent together yet ╮(￣▽￣)╭ also i suggest staying out of the comments section until ur finished cuz theres a shit ton of spoilers
