Yanu reminds me of a cat bringing all sorts of dead animals to its hooman

Anyways, I don't feel any disconnect to the story. It's established early on that Yanu doesn't feel any emotions to any other beings besides his mate (and even then it's different from what humans called love) and Eyra simply doesn't show any sympathy for those who tried to harm him. To each their own, but I prefer characters who are morally gray and/or worse.
