It wasn’t anything specifically but the novel in my opinion was very war-centered and they really emphasized how Karas had no care for human life. Some of the scenes like the scene we just saw on the top of the boat were more prolonged, violent, and he just kept killing innocent people. In the spicier scenes he didn’t really care if Abel wanted it or if he was in pain. He was really rough and possessive with him (in the not-hot way ). He wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of him either. And there was basically no comedic relief like there is in the manhwa with the facial expressions.
But I’m sure some other people see it in a different perspective… I personally was just uncomfortable with their relationship and nothing about Karas was positive or even neutral. I felt bad for Abel.
I’m so glad they changed it a bit so many scenes from the novel made me uneasy and I really disliked Karas by the end
I’m also relieved it’s Shounen ai… probably for the best
