I guess she couldn't take the shame of bearing a child that's possibly not clartes' in front of him because she loves him.
I guess it’s also about the time period of the story and with her husband being from noble bloodline it probably felt even worst for her to have been raped not knowing if the child was her lover or her rapist (?)
