A badly constructed harem trope can easily feel like dead weight in an otherwise well thought out manhwa. In this case: would you feel like something was missing in this manhwa WITHOUT the harem?

Yeah, i think so. Coz every girl he meets has its own mark to the story. I just don't understand how it becomes deadweight like yous said.

When one of the harem girls gets used as hostage and can't do nothing she is a deadweight.

Ya without camus it would Suck. She has talent, a future hero . In fact she is already pretty strong and tried her best . She also got character development. Both the barbarian girl and camus are good but not the saintess

Oh, I didn't mean "would it suck without Girl X", but the harem. There are a plethora of phenomenal mangas out there with strong female side characters. But introducing the harem trope into the story, just so that the male mc gets portrayed as even better than he already is, feels kind of unnecessary to me.
In this case for example I don't think it makes a great addition to the story. Camus and the Barbarian chick are great warriors (especially the latter), and they would still me awesome WITHOUT lusting after Vikir - who's not the least bit interested in any woman so far

I think camus will help him get his emotions back and rise to the swordmaster stage . Romance can develop if he has emotions in the first place
