“Psychological” tag is useless

I’ve had this on my mind for a while but I feel like most Manwhas just throw on the psychological tag to excuse any noncon because this isn’t making sense. What are we getting at? Lmk if I’m wrong.

You're not wrong. Psychological is just code for someone's getting screwed. Literally and figuratively.

I don't think there's anything to "excuse" but I think a lot of manhwa authors just have a very different idea of what psychological horror entails. Oftentimes it truly is just set dressing for the main course: which is raw yaoi sex. Some manhwa strike a balance between the hardcore sex and the psychological shit but others fall short. I'm still waiting to see how the manhwa turns out because even after reading the novel, the manhwa evokes a much, much stronger reaction from me. Also you don't have to censor noncon lol. This is mangago. Not like the feds are gonna swoop in and tackle you for saying naughty words.

No, I get what you're saying. When I think of Psychological I think of more of an "eerie vibe". Like, Psychological stories usually have a quiet suspense or an unsettling mystery. Not to sound pretentious or like a snob or anything but, Psychological stories tend to be a bit smarter.

The Psychological stories now feel like, "Hehehe he's a little cray cray and is going violently r*pe the mc because he luuuuves him" I feel like a new tag needs to be added because, I agree, I feel like they're just using that tag to write torture corn.

This is my opinion (I'm also reading the novel) but I can see the psychological essence in this manhwa. Yes ideally psychological stories have an eerie vibe to it, but regardless of the atmosphere all psychological stories intend to explore the mind/emotions of complex characters. Though at this point there is not much depth to MC and ML, they are both very complex characters (through characterization, past traumas for ML and behavioral changes in MC aka stolkholm syndrome). I think the psychological aspect of this manhwa comes in the form of moral decay and mental deterioration. Anyways, I understand how manhwa authors using and toxicity is unwitting, but I guess it shows the mental effect it has on the victims
