I think you forgot to click the subscribe option. You will see the subscribe option when you click reading, want to read and all ready read options.
BTW, if you are not reading mangas but getting notification you just have to remove it from your reading/read list.
I am subscribed to the one that did not gave me a notif tho. And sometimes I come back to the mangas I no longer read. If they keep updating, I will check what the status of the manga is so I can come back anytime.

Well i read like a thousand plus but i mostly get less tthan 50 notif a day and barely get any 60+ above
I've read around 300 mangas, but I usually only get about 7 to 11 update notifications. What I’ve realized is that if you don’t read a manga for a long time, you won’t get any update notifications for it anymore—at least not until you read it again.

Really? Then what about those mangas that have been on hiatus for a long time? It's not our fault we don't read them for a while. I miss my 24 mangas update

Am I the only one who thinks mangago has a limit to giving notifs now? It's been a month and the maximum of update I get in a day are 11 mangas, which half of them I no longer even read. So basically I'm reading 3-4 mangas in a day in the morning and night. I even accidentally pressed a manga I read and saw that it updated a few days ago and I didn't get the notif. I checked the date and it wasn't there in my list of notifis.
