In my mind , i wanted Ein to be a bit more dark compared to Cassian and quite a big contrast from his personna he puts for others - Mommy Boi at home and cold outside. NO, i wanted him to be proper dark and obsessed , something he hides from others but something Karina observed while growing up together and also likes it. Karina has a one sided love for Ein since a very long time and she thinks she is okay to remain as is cuz she kmows he doesnt love her back the way she does and also she doesn't wanted to get rejected and thus make it awkward with the FL. She likes remaining as family friends of sorts and is okay with admiring him from afar .
So the problem starts when she comes of marriageable age and it becomes clear to her parents that Karina despite the rumors and constant visits is not going to become a daughter in law of the Duke. So they start looking for suitors of their social standing . When the FL's family first gets to know of this , Fl jokingly suggests Karina to become her daughter in law but Ein loudly rejects the idea and asks his mom not to joke about this and to not make her uncomfortable. Karina gets brokenhearted but hides it and goes home.
That day she goes home to see her mom crying and her dad panicking. They tell her her dad made some financial mistakes and bad investments and is now in debt and there is a huge chance their family will get destroyed.
Her dad says there is a chance to save themselves through Karina's marriage
Karina dealing with her heartbreak and the family's difficulties says she will marry whoever her parents suggest. So the talk spreads about Karina's marriage. Chade family on getting know about Karina's situation immediately send her a marriage proposal, something Ein also agrees on. But Karina refuses it and asks her dad to find someone else. Soon she gets a proposal from one noble's 2nd son who had bad rumors surrounding him. But seeing the bride dowry she would receive and how it would save her family , Karina says yes to the proposal even if it meant sacrificing herself.
During this, Ein keeps trying to get in touch with Karina but she refuses to meet him. Soon there is a shortcut wedding in a week to seal the deal. Karina is depressed but seeing as this is her only option puts up a brave front and goes to meet her new family. There she gets to know her husband-to-be is a massive playboy who knocked up his maid and to cover up the scandal , his parents arranged for this marriage and also paid a large sum of money to keep Karina from refusing.
Karina and her parents understand that this was a trap but there is no chance to escape since the marriage also got approval from the Emperor. Karina says it's OK that she will manage but couldn't stop her tears from falling. Ein comes to her the next day and barges in after getting stopped by the guards. He begs her not to marry that guy and tells her about the scandal. Karina says she knows and she is okay with it if it means she can save her family.
Ein asks why she refused his proposal and Karina says it's because she doesn't love him and tells him to leave.
Soon the wedding comes and Karina gets ready in a bridal gown. Everyone is at the altar waiting for the bride to arrive but she doesn't come.
Upon searching they find out that Ein had kidnapped Karina and taken her to a deserted place where even the Chade family couldn't locate him.
