Given the reason behind it all, it's understandable tho.
So I for one can accept the art change.
What happened?
Well, from what I remember the artist was outted to be a pedo.
They drew a fanfic or something about someone being turned into a literal baby if i remember right, and the adult of the pair having sex with the toddler or jacking off while handling him. (I honestly do NOT even want to know, any option is disgusting.)
There was also talk about them referencing actual porn to re-draw scenes as well. Which is somewhat visible in older art in the comic, if you know what re-drawn stock in the artworld looks like. So people speculated if the CP comic was also referencing actual footage.
It was a real ugly mess.
The comic creator didn't know, when this came to light I think they immediately removed the artist from the project. Tho the long hiatus was also due to the author finding out about websites like this making the comic available for free.
Oh wow, I didn’t expect that. I remember reading it years ago and really enjoying it, but I totally forgot about it during the hiatus. I just wish the second season had a more realistic art style—it doesn’t quite hit the same.
Yeah, I didn't either. I found the comic some time after all that happened. Read the comments and was really not happy about liking the art at times. Haha. :')
I'm not sure why they didn't try to look for a better artist than the original even. If they did that, it would have felt better in terms of overshadowing the ugly happenings of the past. And I'm sure there were people who could have drawn amazing art. Not sure if they weren't within the budget of the author tho. I have no idea how those aspects work.
I love it, but I did not expect the sudden art change at chapter 46 that threw me off big time
