What is with all the incorrect spoilers in this comments section? The duke literally chose Peony over the Empress while everyone was saying he would choose the empress over her, wtf. He got in so much shit because he chose Peony over Hestia. I was about to drop this over those spoilers.
Both of them were acting like assholes at the beginning. Withholding Firewood in a cold ass country is straight up diabolical. He should have refused the fiance thing and just let her be without giving her any time of the day. She would eventually have to give up and leave if he refused to show his face to her.
Peony being so extremely pushy when she KNOWS why he is distraught was also shitty of her. Reminder that she knows about him but he doesn't. Consent isn't only about sex but also respecting "no" in general when it also comes to confessions. She kept on disrespecting his "no" and pushing herself onto him. If the roles were reversed, it will be apparent how problematic she acted.
Anyway, I am happy that Hestia and Michael weren't some comically evil people. I like how both of them were written to be nice and supportive. Are we not going to talk about how FINE Peony's older brother is? OOF. Also Andy and ALSO that silver haired lady knight. They were all so HOT.
