no. tasteful means doing something in a way that is “showing good aesthetic judgment or appropriate behavior” this extends to showing depictions of abuse or ‘bad things’ in a way that is purposeful. in easy words — it isn’t there just for the sake of it. this whole story was just “oh let’s add this for shock value” the end.

Yes and no, because appropriate and aesthetic can differentiate depending on person. The yaoi is a psychological and we don't get any built up so there is no way to say that it is purposeful or not because that is the point of the book. Shock value only counts towards something that has a previous story leading onto the end.

Personally, I think the fact that the terrible stuff happening in the story is actually acknowledged as bad and not brushed over as it is in so many popular BLs is kind of more tasteful than pretending it didn't happen at all or romanticising it. Yeah, this story isn't for everyone—it has no likeable characters and is thoroughly toxic, but at least, it owns the toxicity. Of course, there's better, more tasteful stuff out there too.
sometimes i wonder how far should these tropes go? we all understand that it is fiction, however people normalizing liking this are also in turn desensitizing themselves. in my opinion, nothing was done tastefully.
if you think this is a good.. please take a break from your phone!!!
