I mean... the problem to me is the setting+all of that...
I get various wives and concubines and bastards being brought in... but in eastern settings... where polygamy was normal. Like china with his emperors and their harens.. but in a western fantasy with western royalty and nobility it gets kinda weird... because from what I know that ain't normal. Kings having mistress I get... but not with multiple wives and concubines like that... there wouldn't be so many offd queens in history otherwise... and illegitimate children? Most were offd as soon as discovered too... so.. mixing those 2 settings feels weird to me...
Even that one you mentioned is not something on a medieval onwards setting.
That's what gets me... but I do understand if they are not direct bloodline... maybe cousins and distant relatives of royal blood... and kids of royals that couldn't keep it in their pants... maybe this whole mess is why the sister got the throne the way she did... I understand it being a plot point on this comic... but it weirds me out how often authors put a polygamy setting on a western fantasy one... to me it feels like trowing ninjas in a cowboy setting...

I mean... I do agree... like cowboys in snow or in space kinda things... it is funny... but I mean in a more discomforting way since the objective is not to be funny...
It's like... making a story about dragons in a European medieval fantasy setting but all the dragons are the oriental kind... or a Chinese martial arts story but all dragons carvings and embroidery are the western kind... it just... gives me jeebies...
remember that theres a king in the Bible who had 700 wives AND 300 concubines.
theres so much lore to uncover in the Bible yall i highly recommend reading it.
this aint sarcasm TT
