I’ve never heard of that take. How does it go?
Tam Lin is a fairy tale about a male fairy (Tam Lin) who falls in love with a human girl. But he belongs to the fairy queen and she takes umbrage over this.
So she makes a deal with him and the human girl. If the girl can hold onto him for, I think it was 12 hours straight (it’s been a long time), while he shifts through various forms, including that of a snake, a bear, a large cat (I want to say tiger, but I don’t think that was it), and other forms of furious beasts, without letting him go or running in fear of him, the fairy queen will release him and let the two live happily together.
The girl manages to hold onto him throughout the night and the queen follows through on her promise.
There’s actually a lot more to the tale, but that’s the basic gist of it.
There have been a lot of renditions of it, like with other fairytales, including a book called Tam Lin that takes place at a modern day college in the 1970s or 80s (when the book was written). Very good book and well worth reading.
Anyway, since this manga isn’t following the fairytales to the strictest of terms, I’m wondering if Verite may end up being a version of Tam Lin and Blanche the human girl he falls in love with.
But again, I could be very wrong.

I’m guessing the golden bird means we’re going to get The Nightengale story….
I mean, we started with Snow White and then got The Little Mermaid. So we’ll probably get other fairy tales as well.
I’m also curious if Verite being a fairy is a take on Tam Lin. But admittedly, I could be wrong on that one.
