Can someone explain in detail about the differences I asked about?

What is the difference between Queen and Empress? What about King and Emperor?Don't they both have the same meaning?
I was reading a story, where the villain is a queen , who must kill the empress in order to gain power. But don't queens and empresses have the same power and position in a kingdom? I really don't understand hehe

basically empress/emperors rule empires (empires are made of many different nations/countries) for example the british empire or the mughal empires and queens/kings rule kingdoms which are one country only so for example theres an empire, run by an empress and a specific territory/country of that empire is run by another seprate queen as well and the citizens worship both the queen and empress but the empress is a higher rank than the queen.

I can’t rly rly explain but like queen and king are below empress and emperor
Like the empress and emperor manage a empire, a empire that consists of kingdoms with queens and kings
While the king and queen only magane that small kingdom, the empire is much bigger and so the empress and emperor have much more power, and influence
Sorry if I badly explained it

An empress is more powerful than a queen because a queen has rule over a kingdom or territory, an empress has authority over multiple nations, kingdoms, or regions

    Eye pretty much explained it.

In actual history this happened. If a country (lets say the U.S. for example) was ruled by a queen, but was taken over by England then the Queen of England would be an empress, since she is the leader of an empire.

    Queen < Empress
    King < Emperor
