I feel calm, the storm has ended. (It's December in Gwiyagok so it's still some time before spring, right?)

I can't stop looking at the panel where she's dead. Love it. Btw C.R Jade is great even with drawing teeth -> Jaeshin calling Yeom :D

We have underestimated her, thought she's "wounded", kinda defeated, but what a come back she made!
And if any of you've wondered about the goddess -> it's Baridegi, also known as Princess Bari.
I'll make it short, there're a few versions of this Korean folktale: "abandoned princess", who was born as the 7th daugther so the father (somewhere I saw "parents") abandoned her not long after. Then when she grew up the father became ill and - difference: ordered her to go to the underworld and get the water which brings one back to life, or she decided to go by herself to save his father - a great merit of filial piety, as she went willingly and didn't give in to the end.
On her way it's said, she saved many who were suffering and then in the underworld, after some hardships and/or merit gathering, she gets the water and cures her father. After that she becomes a goddess who leads the dead to the afterlife.
She's a patroness of mudang (Korean shaman), even to this day.

    - very detailed, I haven't read it yet ;)

So Yeom was mudang in her life, but I don't know the meaning of the bells. Anyone?
She's also saying smth about the generals of cardinal points. I assume it deals with Buddhism. Might be interesting.

No worries, you actually haven't spoiled anything :) I just thought: let's be kind and don't create many topics about the raws ;))

    what about the bells?
as far as ik from movies is that their significance in shamanism is to create connection to spiritual realms , and to attract the spirits' attention.

( and not just in korean culture specifically. there are variations of such items everywhere . like in Indian traditions , its a really common item to be used in rituals as well as prayers.
its said to ward off evil spirits and any negativity , and its sound is believed to be auspicious and so its often rung while praying to deities at home or when you enter any temple here , you'd find these big bells hung at the entrance which, when you ring them , basically signifies that you're informing the deities of your arrival and then you do the same while exiting. ) -- sorry this turned out to be like a rant. I did not mean for it to get this lengthy (ToT)

apart from that , I'm actually very curious about Yeom's entire shamanic sequence and i don't think MTLing through it is doing justice. so I'll wait for the officials for that.
I think if it's Dec there , then we'll prob have until march/april for spring to come. which means if the queen is gone now , so the focus will shift to jaenok's past?

well that's all ik. now can I just say , that one panel where jaeshin is hugging the prince (jooseung? I'm bad with names) and nok , they just looked so cute . and then that one panel towards the end , when the prince wakes up and nok is playing with geumdong. I'm only hoping its a smooth sailing for everyone from here

.Oooh riiiight, now I see it. It's just her shamanic symbol. Thanks for clarifying! :) And it wasn't a rant - if so, almost my every comment could be deemed as one XD It's not, isn't it? ( T﹏T )

Hm that would be a nice idea! But I doubt in Jaeshin, he won't tell why exactly he's approached him - that's more important imo than making Nok see ghost's, as it wasn't on purpose. It makes him feel guilty (good!) but we can brush it off with "that's fate".
For a second I thought maybe Chaehui or the great evil will be back - but that's very unlikely. Now it doesn't seem there're going to any serious problems. The biggest one will be Nok's dying eventually.

Nok playing with Geumdong was the cutest <3

Jae Shin holding the prince and Lee Nok gave a cute family vib; now I want more. What's gonna happen with the old man from ch1 who Jaeshin tricked when he messed with the book of names? He's still out there!

Guys is the evil queen really dead? It seems she was still alive when the king found her so how did she die afterwards? I just read the chapter so iam sill shocked. I gotta go back and read it once more oO Thanks for your insights about Yeom and the bells

I don't think the king found her himself. The shocked guy among the guards who entered her quarters was Sorib ;)
But she's dead. Reeeaaally dead. My understanding is that Yeom exorcised her/the great evil chanting a prayer to Baridegi, as a shaman would do. And with that she cleared her karma (and find peace <3)
As for the bitch, the narrator described it for us:
"It was too much to bear to look at with open eyes. The grotesque appearance of the deposed queen Han sitting inside was so frightening, that it was like a ghost in human skin."
And translator showed "the three dead bodies that were torn apart beyond recognition". But three? Kyeongjun, for sure. The queen, and? Her brother left after delivering Juseong.

helpp my translator only showed "The bodies of Segu were torn apart so horribly that they were unrecognizable." And I'm guessing Segu is General in this case. nothing about the 3 bodies T_T

but now that I look at the panel again it shows 3 legs and a hand. the dilapidated one looks like kgj from the clothes. the other pair of legs were very conveniently placed outside the frame i wonder what surprise the authors would give us. I don't think the brother would have entered the room again. or that his crimes would have been that severe to get him punished with the queen .

hmm idk I'm starting to doubt he'll be able to do much. like what powers does he even have in front of jaeshin to be able to do smth lmao. plus jaeshin already got whatever punishment he was supposed to get for messing up with human lives.

and the only people who i think do have some power over jaeshin are the leaders of the underworld. so until and unless jae does commit something like that again for someone *cough* nok *cough* I think we're in the clear.

and even if the man tries to harm nok (but why would he. its not like he knows about them) , dont think he'll be able to do that to a crown prince in the first place , plus he'd just be labeled a traitor so there's that(but also the only possiblity i can think of atm). now had he some how sided with the empress , then that would have been another story , which again is not possible.

    Daisy April 4, 2025 5:50 pm

was skimming through the earlier chapters, do you guys remember the old man who asks nok about how he met jaeshin and warns him (chap 30) and we saw him again when jaenok went on their date in countryside (starting chapters of s3). I wonder what his deal was.

But what could be "segu"?;) Nothing that would make sense in this story. I think it's this horrible font fault. Space matters and I'm absolutely sure there is a space after "se" (which is 3).
Now I found it: "gu" - a bound noun that serves as a unit for counting the number of corpses.
Good point, you've mentioned the panel. I can see 3 body parts from the left: 2 legs and an arm. On the right it looks more like a piece of clothing? Thus somehow it could be about body parts, not full corpses.
And so - they might not know it's Kyeongjun's body and that he was in cahoots with the queen. Nok could've remained silent ab that so his whole family won't suffer...

I also thought it this guy but more perceptive ppl pointed -fairly!- the old stalking guy is the one from the 1st chapter. Jaeshin revenge-tricked him and shorten his son's life so it's reasonable the old will target Nok now, after seeing he's dear to Jaeshin.
But HOW can he harm the crown prince? Nothing indicates. White clothing - maybe another shaman?
Just putting him at the end of the date-chatper, when all was cute, and the forget the guy - I very much doubt it's the author's style ;)

That's what I was thinking. That old man from the date night was the same one who Jaeshin changed his life with his son. So, I guess he looking for revenge, and I don't think the author just forgot about him... I guess maybe he'll be the villain of the next season...

You pour hope into my little heart, akane, saying there'll be another season <3

I checked the 1st chapter looking for hints WHO he is. But nothing really comes to my mind:/
However he can't be "a regular" human. He knew that Jaeshin has power to extend his life and was gambling with him. Then he'd talked with the grim reapers/messengers. I'm not convinced common ppl could even see them.
    Sooo, another shaman?

    akane006 April 5, 2025 10:44 pm

Wow, you're very sharp, I have not noticed these details. You're right. he knew about Jaeshin and the underworld; he must be a special human or something...
