to me, it is completely normal to walk away if a situation gets too overwhelming at that moment. you can't expect sm1 to communicate their problems when they have yet to calm down. what WOULD have been bad would be a fight with the misunderstanding which did not happen, thankfully. the dude told him what he saw and then left cuz it was too much for him, which is fair and honestly way better than avoid talking about what u saw and growing resentment over it which always ends up in a whole shitshow
