It was an accident as he didn't do it on purpose & he obviously didn't expect it could lead to a zombie apocalyspe either. Tbh, we aren't sure if he was really the cause of it - it's just that he heard that the accident started in this location AND him being stuck in this loop made him think it was his karma bitting his ass.
