Another question is, I heard that the author of the supposedly original one, sued this manhwa. Did they won the case?

I don't really know the full story but apparently, the NOVEL did plagiarize. Iirc, the AUTHOR was 'inspired' of the other book (can't remember its title but it was the FIRST father daughter trope) and decided to make her own. Readers found out the similarities in the NOVEL, and even the name Athy was also inspired from that novel??? (at least from what i was told years ago) anyway, the artist did make a change of few things in the manhwa so idk if it can be called plagiarism anymore but yeah.

Also, lots of people defending WMMAP just bc of the art and while I can't deny that, please don't normalize defending plagiarist just bc they are better (and making excuses just to avoid feeling guilty from supporting a plagiarist) Without the original, WMMAP wouldn't even exist

I really don’t see any much similarities between the two novels except for the father daughter trope. Their names too are entirely different

like i said, this was something i read YEARS ago but if you're curious about the truth, then you can find it out yourself but like i said, the novel that was plagiarized is THE FIRST father-daughter trope so it's understandable for her to feel wrong, especially when WMMAP is more well-known bc of the art. It can't really be called the exact copy but the author of WMMAP did confirm that she read the self-claimed plagiarism novel (which probably inspired her to write WMMAP)

As for the name, both protagonists have long ass name that are shorten to Athy and Ari, which gives similar vibe. Now I'm not defending any of these two since they've already settled it on court, but I dislike how immature readers just gloss over this with an excuse WMMAP is 'prettier' (a fact but the bs is infuriating)

you literally just called wmmap author plagiarist and expect readers to stay quiet? And among all father-daughter novels who also come after dote why only criticize wmmap? Original author didn’t win the case for a reason. That already speaks a lot

I get why you're are upset, it’s a popular story, and people love it. But pointing out similarities or questioning if something might’ve been copied isn’t the same as hating. WMMAP isn’t the first 'doting dad' story, that’s true, but the timing and some parts felt a bit too close to other works, now I only read the manhwa and not the novel so i can't which part is similar (bc spoon change the storyline). Just because the author didn’t lose in court doesn’t mean everything’s fine. Sometimes the law doesn’t cover everything, especially when it comes to ideas and creativity. People can enjoy a story and still talk about these things. it’s not that deep.
