I feel kind of conflicted. I'm not one that cares for relationships, irl or in stories with abuse. For me I would have loved the bittersweet ending, where the two of them part ways. I just think it would have been better that way. But I'm glad to see Heiner come clean to Annette about what happened to him and apologize for what he did. And vice versa. Forgiveness is very hard to give especially if the pain runs deep. I can definitely understand cause I myself know heartache as well as many others up here.

I've seen comments about how the novel is good and would've made the dislike for Heiner a little less than what it was when everyone first started this story. I mean I get it, but as one that has declared to be single forever, I just think the two you cut their losses and part ways, for good.
