This author again..

I wish mangago was more distinct about who is the author vs who is the illustrator in these stories. Lee Geumsan is not the writer. She just illustrated this story and Sadistic Beauty. Idk why the actual author of SB keeps catching strays for her behavior when her only crime is writing a crappy ending to a story she had no direction for.

She got issues because the dude from the sadistic bl one (the bottom one) is based on a real person, idk how bad of a person that dude was, however anyone who does that got issues, also no shade to her, she's just tryna get some cash, explains the shitty tropes she's going for, however I aren't hating, I'm criticising a bad story, & I don't make excuses for lazy authors, using rape is an old game in the bl genre, that aside and the shallow tropes she uses of each work she made.

Is there any proof that she based Minho off a real person? People say that all the time but I’ve never seen any concrete evidence other than some “it came to me in a dream” bs. It’s a pretty serious accusation imo because if she did use someone else’s likeness and personality to create a character whose only purpose is to get raped, that would be extremely fucked up. That aside I do understand the distaste for old ass tropes. I enjoy dark stories and I like reading fucked up shit but I hate how this particular one ends lol. But I think that tends to happen with a lot of “dark” BL manhwa that can’t commit 100% to the dark themes they’re supposedly so proud of.

Its not dark its shit, "dark themes" clearly lost its meaning because of bl authors, dark themes used to mean stories that deal with deep issues, showcasing the dark shit then expanding on it, what bl authors do is just slap rape with kidnapping or some shit and call it psychological, ( what they're doing is just shock value, isn't dark nor psychological) psychology is not just rape, its more than that, as for the issue, literally that's what I heard the fans speaking on, also I'm pretty sure she isn't that nice to her readers (I don't got "proof" because all that happened on twitter & Im not a user there) however you would never catch me defending an author like that.

I'd still caution you against believing whatever fans say. I've followed the SB lady for ages on twitter and the only thing she ever uses/used it for was to post updates when SB was ongoing/Korean feminist tweets. It's not really about "defending" when you're propagating unproven claims that are circulated almost entirely by people who are sore that Minho got a shit ending. She's been perfectly genial with her readers and has only threatened legal action against the person who was scanlating her work illegally and slandering her in the margins of the comic (that was a wild era of SB lore).

YMMV on the other point about dark themes versus shock value shlock. I won't disagree that plenty of BL is very surface level because the industry is so saturated that it's easier to make stuff to please the perverts. But I've found that Sadistic Beauty and Reverse Thinking/Revenge have some interesting elements woven into the plot. I just wish they had the balls to commit to them instead of wrapping up the story with "And then they made up and lived happily ever after". I don't find that a very meaningful or fulfilling way to end stories like these that bank so heavily on being irredeemable and dark. Anyhoo, no hate to you for having had a shit experience with this manhwa. The beauty of mangago is that you can't get your ass beat for having an opinion. Ntm on my girl Yeonhui Woo though, her only crime is writing the most unlikable characters known to man.

I have been reading these type of stories since I was young and back then, didn't have much experience with actual good dark themed works, (younger me would probably tell you this is an 8) so of course, now that I matured and consumed better psychology media (whether its bl centered or not) so this author's work will all seem shit to current me now that i developed my taste, because they're just lazy af, from the tropes, to the character desgin, i can tell when an Author actually done their best +made research on the heavy topics they have placed in their work, and when an Author is just doing whatever is popular nowadays, clearly she's still stuck on the old plots that bl authors used to make in manga (which is popular now with bl manhwa fans) this manhwa's plot even isn't orginal, it has been made and featured alot, so we got repetitive plot, mid character desgin that you can find anywhere, & the backgrounds aren't that interesting to look at, I could only see ppl, especially teens or 13 year olds enjoying this, she should thank the artist, her stories are meh and the art is always carrying them, matter of fact, the artist should put their talent into actual good works instead of bothering with this author who clearly got no talent for writing plots, this manhwa is the type you would see in a 2k words rushed fanfic. ( you can like anything you want btw, just I wouldn't bother defending someone I know nothing about, plus these accusations doesn't exist just sorely out of nothing, ppl are gonna put their best version of themselves on the net, I'm talking in general, but I wouldn't bother even trying to defend someone whom probably isn't what they seem they are, whether those accusations are real or not)

I appreciate you giving me your thoughts! I don’t have much to add on in regards to your takes on dark fiction because I think we are more or less on the same page regarding quality of writing. Back onto the Sadistic Beauty lady though, I feel by your logic, why would anybody make horrible accusations of sexual misconduct about someone they don’t even know but made a story they didn’t like? I think a lot of these conversations are hampered down by the idea that only bad people write bad/messed up stories and people are willing to completely accept that the author of Sadistic Beauty was spiteful and willing enough to use a real person as material for her dark erotica. But I don’t agree with that at all. Until I see actual proof that she did those things I don’t have any issue with commenting to correct misinformation because accusing someone of sexual misconduct is completely different from accusing them of being a bad writer.
